D127 schools need the community’s help! Next to your homes, public schools are one of the most valuable investments in this community. Quality schools protect our property values. Our two high schools play a significant role in making D127 a destination district and community. Our teachers and staff work tirelessly to provide a relevant, engaging, and authentic educational experience for our students.
D127 Investing In Tomorrow is a community-led public engagement program that brings parents, families, and community members together to develop a Facility Master Plan that aligns with our long-term goals for resource allocation, facility enhancement, and the elevation of student academic achievement. You can learn more about the process on our website.
Despite the quality of education students receive in D127 schools, our facilities are showing their age, and education is changing. Grayslake Central is 76 years old, with the last major update to the building completed in 2001. Even Grayslake North, which was built in 2004, needs updates to ensure the spaces we have align with best practices in teaching and learning now and in the future.
As with any investment you might personally make, we need to manage the community’s investment in our schools thoughtfully while also ensuring that we are providing the same education for all D127 students regardless of which high school they attend. We also need to take steps to provide students with improved access and experiences for hands-on courses, career training experiences, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) programs.
D127 invites the community to learn more about these challenges and help develop potential solutions. Working together, we can bring the ideas of the community together to develop recommendations for the future of District 127 schools. Please join us (RSVP here, walk-ins welcome) at one of our upcoming D127 Investing In Tomorrow Open Houses to learn more and lend your voice to planning for the future of D127 schools.
